This month was all about embracing the coming stillness of winter….while running a million miles an hour and then hitting a brick wall (keep reading for more on that). Yet November has been full of sweet moments with the kiddos and gratitude that we are all happy and healthy heading into this next season of life. 

My house (and my children) have been completely possessed by the holiday spirit! Both Zach and Elizabeth took the lead on “styling” and “tablescaping" – the apple sure doesn’t fall far from the tree! Lists for Santa have been started and seem to be growing at record pace, but that’s part of the magic of this time of year, right? Big dreams and childlike wonder. The whole family is gearing up for another memorable ski season. Zach already nailed a backflip on the tramp for the first time this month, so I’m channeling my inner “cool mom” and trying not to shout, “Be careful!” every five seconds. And I’m back in my baking (and TikTok) era with one of our family’s all-time favorite recipes. This blueberry lemon Dutch baby from Half-Baked Harvest is like a taste of home in every bite. A great breakfast to share on a cozy morning.

I found myself in the very unexpected position of having my tonsils removed this month! Who even knew that happened to grown-ups? As a little girl, I remember being jealous if a friend got to eat ice cream for days after having their tonsils taken out. But it turns out it’s not even remotely that fun to have them taken out as an adult. I was on bedrest, and either asleep or drinking coffee to try NOT to be asleep, for over a week, which, if you know me, was basically medieval torture. I’m still recovering and not quite back on solid foods over 10 days later…yikes! But I’m getting better every day and just feeling thankful for my health.
