Bright Sides and Silver Linings

Happy Almost-May! April has felt a little like trying to juggle watermelons – lots of fun things happening on the family front and big moves being made at work – but not nearly enough time to touch base with all of you. So here I am to say a quick hello before we all flip our calendars over and dive into May.

The kids and I are squeezing the last few snowflakes out of Mother Nature. Elizabeth has fallen in love with ice skating just like I did as a little girl, and Zach is all about soccer now. We also had the uniquely Coloradan experience of hunting for Easter eggs in the snow a few weekends ago, and those moments just make me feel so lucky to live here. And – I’ll tell you what – I’m also feeling unspeakably excited that our new house will be done next month! There should be Girl Scout badges for grown-ups, and one of them should be “Survived House Renovations Without Going Crazy.”

As some of you may have heard, I was in a small ski accident at the end of March, which left me with the parting gift of a wicked concussion. Boy, the emotional swings from a bop on the head are nothing to joke about! BUT – on the bright side – it has forced me to slow down and practice a little more self-care than I normally do, which I’ll happily consider a silver lining!
