The best moments don’t happen by accident
The planning, pivots, and small decisions that make connection possible

This past week was a reminder that every gathering, no matter the size, is a production.
Over Mother’s Day weekend, I found myself moving between kids’ lacrosse tournaments and planning an event in New York. On the surface, those two experiences couldn’t have looked more different. One involved folding chairs and sideline snacks. The other involved influencers, diamonds, and many moving parts.
At their core, they were the same.
Both were about bringing people together around a shared experience. Both required planning, coordination, and a fair amount of behind-the-scenes problem-solving. And both reinforced something I believe deeply: the moments we remember most are the ones we share with others.
If you’ve been waiting for a sign to gather your people, this is it: just throw the party. There’s never a wrong time to gather.
With summer around the corner and calendars filling up quickly, now is the perfect time to put something simple on the calendar—dinner with friends, drinks on the patio, or a last-minute backyard hang.
Of course, even the best-planned events rarely go exactly as expected.
Last week in New York, I had one of those events where several important pieces shifted at the last minute. It required quick thinking, flexibility, and support from people I deeply trust.
And yet, the event came together beautifully.
That’s the real value of planning ahead. It’s not that everything goes perfectly. It’s that when something unexpected happens—as it inevitably will—you have the capacity to handle it. Whether you’re hosting six friends for dinner or producing a much larger event, planning ahead creates the breathing room to solve problems without losing the joy of the moment.
That idea is at the heart of what we’re working on at Partytrick.
Behind the scenes, we’re rebuilding our timelines and notifications so Partytrick feels more like the helpful hand it was always meant to be. The goal is to provide timely nudges that keep you on track, reduce decision fatigue, and make hosting feel far less overwhelming.
Sometimes, all you need is a simple reminder of what to do next.
That small nudge can be the difference between feeling overwhelmed and actually enjoying the moment you worked so hard to create.
After bouncing between kids, events, travel, and product work, my body was definitely telling me it was time to slow down.
It also reminded me that the same advice I give to hosts applies to all of us: when we plan ahead, we create more space to enjoy what matters most. That might mean putting a dinner with friends on the calendar. It might mean blocking off an afternoon to recharge.
Either way, the best moments rarely happen by accident. They happen because someone made space for them.
At the end of the day, that’s why we’re building Partytrick.

P.S. If you're a Series A or B CMO attending New York Tech Week, we’d love to have you join us for an afternoon of creativity and connection.
Hosted in collaboration with Partytrick and ViewEngine, meet the edge offers a hands-on experience inviting guests to customize their own pair of Nike Air Force 1s while meeting fellow marketing leaders in a setting designed to spark fresh ideas.
We’re confirming attendees this week, so if this sounds like your kind of event, request an invitation.
