Snow Globes ❄️ and Starting Lines 🏁
This month often found me on my 5th coffee and 18th mile.

October's been a month of finishing lines and starting blocks. The Denver house renovation? Structurally, it’s finally done after 3 years! (Cue the hallelujah chorus…almost…I am still doing my best Legally Blonde impersonation and holding the original contractor who left me in this mess to task.) So now I can redirect that mental energy to... oh, just launching a new product and running a marathon. You know, the usual light lifting! At least now I have a proper place to ice my knees.

We just emerged from what I'm calling "Tournament Season: The Lacrosse Chronicles." Elizabeth is channeling her inner Greek goddess as Athena for Halloween, which is perfect for a girl who's always trying to use Athena's wisdom to negotiate a later bedtime. She’s also looking forward to completing her first school cooking assignment – she’ll be making the chocolate chip cookies we leave for Santa Claus because she’s her mother’s daughter and why wouldn’t she do a trial run 2 months in advance?! She also got to see Taylor Swift in concert last weekend, so I think her year just peaked!
Meanwhile, Zach and I had our own sweet little adventure to Denver over fall break – watching the Nuggets snatch defeat from the jaws of victory (heartbreaking, but we consoled ourselves with sushi). He also completed the entire NASA Artemis Lego set - his goal for the break. I'm considering this excellent training for his future career as a rocket scientist or, at minimum, someone who can explain to me why I can't just microwave my coffee for the fifth time.
THE MOST ANALOG FUN I'VE HAD IN AGES: File under “Did Not See This On My Bingo Card This Year,” but we are all really loving this random potato gun Zach got!

If my work life were a snow globe, this month someone decided to give it a really aggressive shake. But, boy, the clarity that comes after things settle can be really spectacular. I’m learning how to pare back and accept that there are only so many hours in the day. I realize this is basic math, but it’s hard for someone like me who wants to say yes to everything and believes she has an infinite supply of time.
Partytrick rolled out an exciting partnership with Here Here Market and Shaker and Spoon this month. Plus, I had the joy of supporting fellow founder Camilla Marcus, also part of the Here Here partnership, at her cookbook launch for My Regenerative Kitchen in New York (watching fellow dreamers make waves is the kind of energy we need!). FYI - buy this book for your holiday gifting!!!
Apropos, a friend also nudged me to dream bigger. The last time I got that advice, I launched the first iteration of Partytrick. So I’m feeling like something exciting is around the corner. Fingers and toes crossed!
WHAT I’M CURRENTLY READING: "The Art of Impossible" because when someone tells you you're not dreaming big enough, you go find out what's on the other side of “impossible."

This weekend, I'm trading my usual coffee-fueled sprints between meetings for an actual marathon – the New York City Marathon! If you want to follow my progress, you can track me with this NYC Marathaon app! I'm bib #23054!
For my NYC crowd, if you want to join or swing by dinner on Sunday with me and the kiddos, let me know! (5.30pm, Cookshop in Chelsea)
MY MOST FAVORITE SPREADSHEET EVER: This amazing spreadsheet was put together by someone I know – it shares estimates of when I’ll hit key parts of the marathon course. If you plan to come out and cheer the runners on, drop your name in here so that I know where to look for you!
